The Duesbury Modern Miniature House

The World of Miniatures is an interest that grows expedientially. It is good finding like minded people on the weird wild web. I am currently designing a Modern Miniature House called "The Duesbury" using a combination of Vectorworks, computer drafting, MDF material(now perhaps plywood) and CNC Routing. This house seems to take the same time as a full sized house like ones built on 'Grand Design'. I will display the progress of the new house soon.

Garage Diorama

One may remember that the Garage, shown here nearly finished, started many moons ago and far, far down below on this blog. The garage has sat waiting through many house and content moves. It still needs some bric 'a' brak under the bench and a dusting of dust to finish the diorama. I will photo the Garage properly when finished. By the way the trees are made from grape stalks and chilli flakes (autumn)

Things certainly change; I have moved twice in the recent history, am now single and all the stuff for making are in boxes. Still life goes on and today I started arranging the workshop and have got some champagne cork wire so am thinking and have been encouraged to make a French Deli Diorama.
 So C'est la vie.....
Jacques Tati is one of my favourites.

Check out this little object I found at a second hand shop, apparently it is a souvenir of  Uri Gagarin and has been valued at $250 by the Globe Shop in USA. Certainly a miniature item.
As "they" say watch this space.

Two Floors in a Drawer

The other drawer(see further down this blog)
Everything except the drawer, steel balls, the die and the record player is bespoke, made in my workshop and kitchen table,
Modelled in 1980 style, you may recognise the Dublin Sofa as designed by Marco Zanini in the Memphis Style.
The Diorama is in 1/24scale.
And that wall and door is really 'painted' in hundreds and thousands(as they call it in Australia)
I am offering this and some other sculpture in CutArt, Cuttagee Artists Group, Sth NSW, Australia

It all takes time

I have got the miniature house to this stage and of
course the to scale bed in the top floor looks too big#%*. I had made a prototype modern chandelier for the foyer but it is also too big as I designed it to fit the space when we thought to remove the foyer ceiling/floor, but now we are turning the upper floor into a studio (arty types). Also as I put the house together I forgot to check for squareness and when I put the right wing on the main, there was a need for adjustment to fit everything nicely. So for the novice(me) check for square when glueing.
Some of the furniture I make but some we are getting from one of the well known miniature bloggers.I will say who when we get the items.
At least the wiring is in. I am using LED as a battery pack 3V is easier than a transformer, with a tiny switches for each light.
Also I would not recommend spiral stairs in a full size house. Too problamatic geomancy wise. House now gone...

In the meantime

As we all know, things creatively take longer to make than first thought. I am waiting for the Emersom House to be available. Even though I believe that the makers of this house are a dedicated producer, they wrote that they are still working on the packaging system. This Emerson House has been in production as I have seen for quite a while and I can relax a bit from worrying about the houses I am creating, the Duesbury House and the Bodhi House and the others I like to work on, there is one I have on the drawing board called the Spooky House.
Thank you to all of you who have shown interest in our interest.
Priscila Lima, you must have something to show us miniature wise make a blog

Time for action

When the plywood comes in I have also designed another house called 'The Bodhi House'.
I have been sending my son and his wife pieces of miniature furniture that I make, so I have designed/ designing a sort of beachhouse or shack to put their furniture into. It will be open fronted and clad with (Australian)wriggle 'iron'( corregated 'iron')
I have been wrestling with the use of MDF because of the fragileness waterwise and because of the toxic glue used to make it and also it contains silicon which blunts tools.
I know that it is made from timber as is plywood, but plywood is closer to natural or solid timber.
As plywood is cross layered, it is strong.
As someone said "That what I like about nature, it's so natural"

Up and Down

Here is the bare bones of a Diorama I am making, 2nd. in the 1950's Drawer.
Everything except the drawer is fabricated by me, lights, beds, walls Memphis style sofa and furniture. This Diorama has a working title of Up and Down.
It represents the life of two different social strata in the same apartment block
The standard lamp didn't show well in this photo it is muti coloured
The car on the left is part of a little collection growing. I intend to get some Schuco cars for display as a miniature in a miniature (Thanks Call of the Small)
I just scanned some of the followers blogs, boy talk about creativity, each time I look the output has tripled.
We are still overcoming flooding and the repairs to our home. Our output is crawling along.

Still designing

As I work as well as make, the "Duesbury" is becoming very involved for such a 'simple' design.
I am trying to design it to be flat packed so it can be sent anywhere. But as I am a neurotic, perfectionist miniature house designer/ maker. So ever time I get on the computer to tweek the plan I see something needs attention. If bought flat pack, the floors need to slide in in place and the walls placed where needed for support as in a real house. Getting the dimensions is important. Those of you who use drafting software know that near enough is not good enough. Lines that meet in normal view are nowhere near when zoomed.
Anyway the upshot is that the Duesbury is still coming and at the same time I am working on a house with a working name of Spooky House, So more of that soon.
Regards to you all from Mahesha D Philpot

Flooding, resting and curling

Thank you to you creative people for the following of this blog site.

Our little site has slowed due to the flooding in southern NSW Australia and now we are still waiting for the carpet people to upheave the house again and of course, as some of you will recognise, a lot of our miniature supplies is in some box or somewhere else.
Maybe this is just take in breath, a rest, and when the dust has settled, clarity will emerge.
I enjoy in the meantime looking at the sites in 'following' and in my links.
Anyway here is a picture of "Forever Emily and Lisbel" sitting in my Curly Chair
